HGV Card Reader 1.0.1 for Windows 10/11
=======================================

Reads your tachograph driver card with a USB card reader and sends the .DDD
file to your HGV account. Then open app.hgvapp.com › Driver Card and click
Apply. Browsers cannot use smart card readers, so this small app does it.

Which file?
- HGVCardReader-x64.exe – most Windows PCs (Intel / AMD)
- HGVCardReader-arm64.exe – Windows on ARM (Surface Pro X, Snapdragon,
Windows in Parallels on an Apple silicon Mac)
Not sure? Settings › System › About › "System type".

First start
1. Unzip, for example to the Desktop. Nothing to install.
2. Double-click the exe. Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" (the app
is not digitally signed yet). Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
   Only the first time.
3. Click "Sign in…", type the email of your HGV account (the same as on your
phone or Mac) and the 6-digit code from the email.
4. Connect the reader, put the card in chip up. The app reads it by itself
(about 20 seconds) and shows "Card read — … days". Click the notification
   to open app.hgvapp.com.

Where are the files?
Documents\HGV Driver Companion\Cards\C_yyyyMMdd_HHmm_Surname_CardNumber.DDD
Offline, the file stays on the PC and is sent when the connection is back.

Settings: start with Windows (in the tray), send automatically, open
app.hgvapp.com after reading, sign out. Closing the window keeps the app in
the tray (right-click › Exit quits).

Problems
- "No card reader found" – plug the reader in again, try another USB port.
- "Another program is using the card reader" – close other card programs
  (Tachomaster, Optac…) and try again.
- "This card is not a tachograph driver card" – that is another card.
- Windows in Parallels: Devices › USB & Bluetooth › Zoweetek, so Windows
  gets the reader.
